About Us

WhatIsMyLocation.org is built and maintained by a team of network engineers and web developers who use these tools daily. What started as a side project has grown into a comprehensive location and network toolkit used by thousands of users every month. We built this because we needed fast, reliable location and IP tools ourselves — and we wanted to make them available to everyone for free.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower users with transparency about their online presence. Every time you connect to the internet, your device shares information about your location, network, and identity — often without you realizing it. We believe everyone should have easy access to the tools that reveal what data is being exposed, so they can make informed decisions about their privacy and security.

Whether you are a developer debugging a geolocation API, a traveler checking your VPN connection, or a network administrator diagnosing routing issues, our tools are designed to give you accurate answers instantly — no signup, no paywall, no tracking.

How We Ensure Accuracy

Accuracy is the foundation of everything we do. Our geolocation data is sourced from ip-api.com, a widely trusted IP geolocation provider that maintains one of the largest and most frequently updated IP-to-location databases. For interactive maps and coordinate visualization, we use Mapbox, which provides high-resolution satellite imagery and precise mapping data worldwide.

GPS coordinates are obtained directly from your browser's Geolocation API, which uses a combination of GPS hardware, Wi-Fi positioning, and cell tower triangulation to deliver the most accurate position available on your device. Our network diagnostic tools — including DNS lookups, traceroute, speed tests, and port scanning — query live infrastructure in real time, so you always see current results rather than cached or stale data.

We cross-reference multiple data sources to verify timezone, ISP, and ASN information. When discrepancies arise, we default to the most authoritative source. Our city location database covers 230+ cities across 40+ countries with verified coordinates, population figures, and ISP coverage data.

Privacy First

At WhatIsMyLocation.org, we pride ourselves on providing a service that is useful and respects user privacy. We ensure that no personal data is stored or tracked beyond your session — once you leave our site, your data leaves with you. We do not sell data, we do not build user profiles, and we do not share any query data with third parties.

Trusted by Thousands

WhatIsMyLocation.org serves over 4,000 sessions per month from users around the world — including developers, IT professionals, travelers, and privacy-conscious individuals. Our 22+ tools cover everything from basic IP lookups to advanced network diagnostics like traceroute, port scanning, and SSL certificate verification.

Continuous Improvement

Staying ahead in the fast-paced digital world means constantly updating our technology and enhancing user experience. Our commitment is to leverage the best available technology to ensure high accuracy and user-friendliness. Every update and tweak is made with the goal of making this the fastest and most accurate location toolkit available. Your feedback is invaluable to us as it helps us to improve and adapt.

Thank you for using WhatIsMyLocation.org. Whether you're exploring new destinations, need quick access to your current elevation, or are just curious about your coordinates, our tools are here to provide you with reliable information swiftly and accurately.
